Simple enough. There can be only one. It's impossible to look at Blues music in the last fifty years and not have Buddy Guy towering like a Colossus above everything.

Genuine roots, virtuosity, feel, slow or fast tempo, loud or quiet, electric or acoustic, knows all the blues standards and has redefined some of them so much his version is the one they all replicate. It doesn't matter what criteria you use he fills them all.

Muddy Waters, SRV, Albert King, BB King can all stand proud, but Buddy Guy can do it all.

I can think of no higher praise than this. When I first got into Blues music in my youth it was a young guy by the name of Stevie-Ray who first blew my mind and stole my heart. Yet Buddy Guy impresses me more.

What do you make of the latest Buddy Guy albums compared to his so-called come back albums in the 1990s and his early 1960's period?

With apologies for the late reply. Hmmmm the latest album. I think he's turned into Robert Cray. Not that that's a bad thing, but.

It's still very good, but it's lacking either the rawness of some early efforts or the pyrotechnics of the middle period. Understandable considering his age. Mind you, average Buddy Guy is still better than most, in my opinion.

I don't think anything can top him at Ohne Filter.
